Dr. Sandra Rafael received a degree in Visual Sciences from the Illinois College of Optometry in 1988 and the degree of Doctor of Optometry in May of 1990. Before private practice in Chicago Eyes, Dr. Rafael had extensive training in Pediatric Eye Care, Low Vision, Sports Vision and Contact Lenses at the Optical Dispensary of Illinois.  Also, she worked in two laser surgery facilities. 

At the present time Dr. Rafael takes part in the co-management of Lasik and surgical procedures and continuously exceeds the requirements of continuing education in ocular illness, the treatment of glaucoma and other ocular disorders.  Dr. Rafael was licensed by the state of Illinois in the use of diagnostic and therapeutic medicine years before it was the standard in the state. 

Dr. Rafael is committed to preventive eye care and the preservation of sight as a long-term resolution of ocular problems. 

Dr. Rafael is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Illinois Optometric Association.
